Who Am I?
Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo Tennessee, He and his parents moved to Memphis in 1948. Elvis’ music influences were the pop and country music of the time. He was influenced by the black R&B he absorbed on
historic Beale Street as a Memphis teenager. In 1954 he began his singing career with the Sun Record label. By 1956, he was an international singing sensation. He starred in 33 successful films and made history with his television appearances and specials live concert performances on tour and in Las Vegas.
His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma, and good humour endeared him to millions, as did the humility and human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. Known the world over by his first name, he is regarded as one of the most important figures of twentieth century popular culture.
There are thousands of Elvis pictures, cds, books and films, some very rare, which have inspired thousands of tribute artists. There is also a huge range of Elvis jewellery - Elvis rings, pendants and coins, and of course the King’s famous TCB pendant.
Nearly every country in the world has an official Elvis Presley fan club. Some of the legacy he has left with us will be there for ever: his jewellery (such as rings, pendants and coins), jump suits, sunglasses and Elvis memorabilia, and of course not forgetting the famous gold TCB pendant. Elvis died at his Memphis home, Graceland, on August 16, 1977 which will always be remembered by us all at Graceland Elvis week.
